About the film
A father in his fifties drives his son to a distant military base to begin his service. But as the gates close, a wave of uncontrollable dread hits him—a sudden, deep fear that he may never see his son again. Unable to drive away, he settles under a lone acacia tree outside the base fence, starting a stationary "road movie" in a parking lot. As he waits, he encounters various visitors who offer him comfort and strange gifts, forcing him to face the long-ignored questions of his own life. This quiet, visually stunning drama captures the universal ache of wanting to protect a child from a world you cannot control.
The film is anchored by Shai Avivi, who won the Best Performance Award at the Haifa International Film Festival for this role. Avivi gives a masterful, restrained performance, perfectly capturing the blend of humor and deep emotional pain felt by a worried parent. His powerful presence turns a simple story of waiting into an unforgettable cinematic experience.
