From gripping dramas to star-studded red carpets, the UK’s premier Israeli film festival returns to the big screen

The SERET International Film Festival officially kicks off its London season tomorrow marking a remarkable fifteen year milestone of bringing the very best of Israeli cinema to the United Kingdom. What began as a local initiative has evolved into a cornerstone of the cultural calendar providing a vital platform for filmmakers to share their unique perspectives with a global audience.

Reflecting on the journey and the current climate surrounding Israeli art abroad, festival co founder Odelia Haroush shared a defiant and moving message regarding the festival's mission.

"We believe that culture is a bridge, not a wall," Haroush stated. "Cinema is not a weapon; it is an invitation to sit in a dark room together, to feel something together, and to understand each other a little better. Despite the obstacles and the venues that have hesitated simply because of where these films were made, we choose to stand tall. Nothing will shut us down because great cinema has no borders."

This year the festival is proud to host an impressive lineup of visiting talent including the acclaimed director Eran Riklis who will be celebrated with a special career retrospective. Joining him are several prominent figures from the Israeli film industry such as actors Shai Avivi, Yossi Marshak, and the talented Nelly Tagar. The festival is also honored to welcome the award winning Neta Riskin and Liraz Chamami, whose presence adds a special spark to this anniversary year.

The opening night will feature the film Bella, a work that embodies the festival's spirit of connection. Artistic Director Patty Hochmann noted that the film is a result of genuine collaboration between Arabs and Israelis, proving what is possible when people work together toward a shared creative vision.

For eight days the city will transform into a hub of storytelling where the big screen becomes a meeting point for powerful narratives and unforgettable characters. Whether you are a long time supporter of the festival or a newcomer looking to explore the richness of Israeli culture, the next week promises to deliver stories that stay with you long after the final credits roll. The festival runs from May 7 through May 14 at various venues across London and you can explore the full guest list and secure your tickets at www.seretfilmfestival.org
